Marijuana legalization group files measures to end prohibition in Missouri

Fair Access Missouri filed four initiatives last week for legalization COLUMBIA — Multiple pro-marijuana legalization groups in Missouri have filed initiatives to end the prohibition on the plant. Their goal is to get a legalization measure on the 2022 ballot. The group Fair Access Missouri filed four initiatives, three of which would allow the legal sale of recreational marijuana to anyone over the age of 21, while the fourth would amend the current medical marijuana program. The measures state the purpose as permitting, “the safe and legal use of cannabis by adults over the age of 21 and to responsibly regulate the cultivation, processing, manufacturing, and distribution of cannabis.” It goes on to say, “The people of Missouri have a right to enjoy the benefits of their labor free from unreasonable regulation.”

Covid case graph plateauing, says official | Coimbatore News

Coimbatore: For the first time in the district, a teenager died due to Covid-19 on Sunday. The 13-year-old boy died due to Covid pneumonia. He was admitted to a private hospital on Saturday morning after he was found unable to think clearly and concentrate. It was one of the 39 deaths recorded due to the virus in the district, taking the toll to 1,274. It is the second highest number of deaths declared due to the virus in a single day. The others included a 30-year-old woman, who died in Coimbatore Medical College Hospital hardly 24 hours after admission on Friday. She tested positive only on Sunday. A 35-year-old man with ischemic heart disease died after 13 days of hospitalization on Friday. The district recorded 3,488 fresh cases, taking the total number of cases to 1,70,497.

End the War on Drugs Lobby Day to take place Tuesday

JEFFERSON CITY – The “End the War on Drugs Lobby Day” is taking place at the Capitol Tuesday. The event is being hosted by Crossing Paths. Crossing Paths Executive Director/Treasurer/lobbyist, Bharani Kumar is leading those in attendance around the capitol. The purpose of the event is to show state representatives and senators that citizens support issues in the Missouri Capitol such as the legalization of marijuana, psychedelic medicine, de-felonizing drug possession and other criminal justice reforms.   This event comes after legislation was filed to possibly legalize these topics in 2022.  Executive Director for PreventEd, an organization that focuses on reducing and preventing the harms of drug and alcohol addictions, Nichole Dawsey said she does not agree with everything the group seems to represent, but is glad the event is taking place.
