The next time Donny Proffit sets foot on the floor of the Ford Wyoming Center formerly the Casper Events Center it will be in a pair of cowboy boots and not a pair of wrestling shoes. For Karson Bradley, she won’t fret too much about competing in collegiate rodeo’s biggest event she’s been there before.
Proffit will return to Casper this time for the College National Finals Rodeo (CNFR) June 13-19 as a member of the University of Wyoming rodeo team, not as a four-time state champion wrestler for Kemmerer High School (KHS). For Bradley, from Big Piney, this will be her second time around under the spotlight she knows the Ford Wyoming Center’s dirt arena well.

State, national and international media frequently feature the University of Wyoming and members of its community in stories. Here is a summary of some of the recent coverage:
UW will receive nearly $3 million from the U.S. Department of Energy for research focused on expanding and transforming the use of coal to produce coal-based products using carbon ore, rare earth elements and critical minerals. Oil City News and County 10 published UW’s release. Green Car Congress, World Coal and Electric Energy Online published similar articles.
The New York Times noted that UW is offering incentives to members of the university’s community who receive their COVID-19 vaccines. The article focused on the number of U.S. colleges that are requiring vaccinations for their employees and students this fall.

From the opening rodeo last fall until the final event this past weekend, there was no doubt that the University of Wyoming had the teams to beat in the Central Rocky Mountain Region (CRMR).
The Cowboys and Cowgirls went wire-to-wire during the fall and spring seasons to capture their third consecutive CRMR team titles.
The UW women were so dominant this season that they swept all five fall rodeos and took four of the five spring events in accumulating 3,644.65 points to send the four-member points team to next month’s College National Finals Rodeo (CNFR). The Cowgirls easily outdistanced runner-up Chadron State College, which had 1,810.84 points.

It is only fitting that the University of Wyoming men’s rodeo team close out its home rodeo with a record-setting performance.
The Cowboys put together a solid effort throughout their six-man points team Sunday afternoon to accumulate 870 points in establishing a new record in winning the annual Laramie River Rendezvous Rodeo in what has been a runaway season for Coach Beau Clark’s club. The UW men topped the previous record of 865 points set last September in the season opener. This marks the fourth time in program history that a Cowboys team has surpassed the 800-point mark with three of those marks coming this season.
