Frontiers | Public–Private Mix Models of Tuberculosis Care in Pakistan: A High-Burden Country Perspective

Introduction: Pakistan ranks fifth in the globally estimated burden of Tuberculosis (TB) case incidence. Annually, a gap of 241,688 TB patients exists between estimated TB incidence and actual TB case notification in Pakistan. These undetected/missed TB cases initiate TB care from providers in the private healthcare system who are less motivated to notify patients to the national database that leads to significant under-detection of actual TB cases in the Pakistani community. To engage these private providers in reaching out to missing TB cases, a national implementation trial of the Public-Private Mix (PPM) model was cohesively launched by NTP Pakistan in 2014. The study aims to assess the implementation, contribution, and relative treatment outcomes of cohesively implemented PPM model in comparison to the non-PPM model. IATA releases 2014 safety performance


HONG KONG – The International Air Transport Association (IATA) released 2014 commercial aviation safety performance.
• The 2014 global jet accident rate (measured in hull losses per 1 million flights) was 0.23, which was the lowest rate in history and the equivalent of one accident for every 4.4 million flights. This was an improvement over 2013 when the global hull loss rate stood at 0.41 (an average of one accident every 2.4 million flights) and also an improvement over the five-year rate (2009-2013) of 0.58 hull loss accidents per million flights jet.
• There were 12 fatal accidents involving all aircraft types in 2014 with 641 fatalities, compared with an average of 19 fatal accidents and 517 fatalities per year in the five-year period (2009-2013). ....

A not-for-profit community-based organisation supporting migrants in Biloela and Rockhampton has been selected as a Central Queensland regional winner in the 60
th annual Queensland Training Awards.
Minister for Training and Skills Development Di Farmer named the Central Queensland Multicultural Association Inc. and 10 other Central Queensland regional winners, recognising their significant contribution to training Queenslanders especially at such a challenging time.
“The Palaszczuk Government put investing in skills at the centre of our COVID-19 Economic Recovery Plan, and with over $1 billion in the recent state budget dedicated to training and skills, we are delivering on that commitment,” Minister Farmer said. ....
