Bay retailers, and accommodation and hospitality businesses are gearing up for one of the busiest weekends of the year, thanks to a weekend of jazz.
The 58th National Jazz Festival and 43rd National Youth Jazz Competition return on Easter weekend with an impressive and exciting programme of events across Tauranga.
The competition will showcase emerging jazz players talents with 300-plus secondary school students performing at the Baycourt Community & Arts Centre on March 31 and April 1. ....

For some businesses, such as those in tourism and hospitality, the effects of the coronavirus pandemic have been debilitating.
But for others, it s as if the pandemic never happened, as Australia s latest earnings season
reveals.
In fact, it was the best earnings season – when companies report their annual or half-year profits - in Australia for six years. Some 55 per cent of companies reported an increase in profits, up from 36 per cent in the earnings season six months early. ....

Private equity executives who rank among the richest men on Wall Street received hundreds of millions of dollars in payouts even as the US economy faltered last year, helped by central bank stimulus that wiped
out the investment losses they recorded early in the pandemic.
Blackstone founder Stephen Schwarzman received at least US$615 million ($843.9m), most of it in dividends. That is one-fifth more than he earned the previous year, as strong investment returns and inflows of fee-paying capital boosted earnings at the world s biggest private equity firm. ....
