(Jolson Lim/iPolitics) Small businesses are pleading with the Canada Revenue Agency to extend Friday’s deadline to file their 2020 tax returns. “This has been anything but a usual year for so many Canadians, and especially for small-businesspeople who’ve been put through the wringer,” Dan Kelly, president of the Canadian Federation of Independent Business (CFIB), told iPolitics on Thursday. Individual taxpayers have until April 30 to file their taxes with the Canada Revenue Agency (CRA), or face a five per cent penalty on the balance owing, and an additional one per cent for each month thereafter. Interest on unpaid 2020 taxes starts accruing on May 1. ....
