In 3-2 vote, City Council OKs $5.75 million regional racquet center

Local tennis and racquetball players will have a new, $5.75 million facility that the city of Palm Coast hopes will attract regional tournaments as well.
The City Council voted 3-2, in a raucous meeting May 4, to approve a contract with Gilbane Building Co. for construction of a regional racquet center,” to be named the Palm Coast Reilly Opelka Racquet Center, that will include a clubhouse and six to 12 pickleball courts in its first phase.
A later phase will add clay tennis courts, hard tennis courts, hard junior tennis courts, a hitting wall and a stadium court for tennis and pickleball, as well as more parking and restroom facilities, according to a Palm Coast city staff document. ....

Citizen of the Year – Greg Peters, Pastor of Parkview Baptist Church. Peters was honored for his partnership and efforts in mobilizing the community behind the successful ‘Feed Palm Coast’ initiative. Peters also continued efforts to support food drives, brought the community together with the Palm Coast Unites event, and other charitable work. City of Palm Coast announces 25 activities for April 2021

The Palm Coast Aquatics Center opens on April 5!
“We know our community has greatly missed the Palm Coast Aquatics Center this last year and we are so grateful to be opening it for the season on April 5,” said Parks & Recreation Director Lauren Johnston. “The pool is essential to providing life-saving swim lessons and an important source of recreation and wellness to our residents.”
Swim lessons, Aqua Zumba, Water Aerobics, Fitness on the Water, and more are returning as well. See a list of all recreational activities, including aquatics, at www.palmcoastconnect.com/s/parks-and-rec.
