https://www.afinalwarning.com/522888.html (Natural News) Researchers discovered what appeared to be shallow glaciers beneath the Martian surface. These features might be rich in water ice and are situated in the northern lowlands beneath a flat region called Arcadia Planitia. The researchers said that this region could serve as a landing site for future crewed missions to Mars while the glaciers could provide a water source to astronauts. The researchers detailed their findings in a paper, which was published May 1 in the journal Icarus. “What I think makes Arcadia Planitia a good destination for future human space flight and resource utilization is its flat topography for safe landing along with an abundance of near-surface ice at relatively low latitudes for human use,” said Shannon Hibbard, a doctoral candidate at the ....
Strong policies on black carbon can sharply cut glacier melt, says World Bank study Updated: Updated: June 03, 2021 22:17 IST Enacting new policies can achieve benefits over the projected 23% reduction in Black Carbon as a result of ongoing efforts. Share Article AAA The research report covers the Himalaya, Karakoram, and Hindu Kush (HKHK) mountain ranges, where, it says, glaciers are melting faster than the global average ice mass. | Photo Credit: Getty Images/iStockphoto Enacting new policies can achieve benefits over the projected 23% reduction in Black Carbon as a result of ongoing efforts. Black carbon (BC) deposits produced by human activity which accelerate the pace of glacier and snow melt in the Himalayan region can be sharply reduced through new, currently feasible policies by an additional 50% from current levels, new research by World Bank (WB) specialists has said. ....
