It takes a while for ice to thicken up enough for anglers to wander out onto Lake Winnebago, but it doesn’t take much warm weather to turn it into slush. “It’s a beautiful day out today. The ice is really getting bad, so I’m recommending no more vehicle travel on Lake Winnebago,” said Don Herman of Sunk? Dive and Ice Service. Herman posted an ice update report on Facebook this week with that recommendation, but adding that four-wheelers and UTVs could still be used if you really need them. ....

Gary Morische, owner, Gary’s Lawn & Snow Service, Osage, Iowa Morische says despite all the uncertainty that plagued 2020, he’s been able to keep things consistent. “It’s been real steady, and so far, so good,” he says. Morische says 2019 was a good year overall, but a mild winter served as a bump in the road. He’s hoping for a better one this year. “I had a slow winter, but summer was really good,” he says. “Like everybody else in this business, it all depends on the weather. We’ll finish up this year pretty good, but it depends on how the winter goes. We always look forward to a new year. We’re hoping COVID will slow down and exit the picture.” ....
