Federation petition in Justice Isa case not entertainable: SC registrar

ISLAMABAD: The Supreme Court Registrar Office, while returning the federation’s petition on its judgment regarding review petitions in Justice Qazi Faez Isa case, held that there was no any such provision of filing a curative review petition in the SC Rules 1980, hence it was not entertainable.
It stated that on the title page, the case is mentioned as suo moto case; however, on the subject, the case is mentioned as “Curative review petition”.
The case amounts to a second review petition, which is not entertainable under Order XXVI, Rule 9 of the Supreme Court Rules 1980.
A - Petitioner No 1 (President of Pakistan) has not executed the power of attorney. ....

Students at the Technical University of Mombasa have boycotted online classes after comrades in their third year of study were barred from proceeding to the next academic year.
According to them, the third-year students who were meant to go for industrial attachment but did not find slots in companies and organisations should be allowed to conclude their studies.
“We had unfruitful initiation of dialogue between us (students) and the administration that directly affects online learning. This is why we are boycotting classes,” Haron Kipkemoi, the student union’s secretary general said.

Synopsis
The relaxation of charge-related timelines shall apply in cases where the creation or modification of the charge falls between April 1 and May 31, or where due date for filing charge-related forms falls between those dates.

The corporate affairs ministry (MCA) has provided relaxations on the timelines of various statutory requirements and waived late fees for various filings under the Companies Act, LLP Act and rules till July 31 on account of disruptions caused by the second wave of Covid-19.
The period between two consecutive board meetings has been extended to 180 days from 120 days for the first two quarters of this fiscal while the months of April and May will not be counted as part of the timelines for filing of charge-related forms, circulars released by the ministry on Monday said. ....
