World Bank approves $30 Million to support COVID-19 vaccination rollout in Rwanda


The World Bank’s Board of Executive Directors approved  $30 million in additional financing to the Republic of Rwanda for the acquisition and deployment of safe and effective COVID-19 (coronavirus) vaccines.  
This is the second additional financing for the Rwanda COVID-19 Emergency Response Project, bringing a total of $45.19 million in World Bank contributions to the country’s national COVID-19 health response and vaccination campaign.

WASHINGTON, D.C., April 16, 2021 The World Bank Board of Directors approved additional financing of US$50 million for El Salvador and US$20 million for Honduras to implement COVID-19 Emergency Response Projects. These financial resources will help El Salvador and Honduras purchase and deploy COVID-19 vaccines and strengthen the countries immunization and related health delivery systems.

BANJUL, The Gambia, April 16, 2021-Today, the World Bank Board approved $8 million additional financing from the International Development Association (IDA) to provide The Gambia with safe and effective vaccine purchase and deployment.
“With this additional financing, the World Bank is helping The Gambia strengthen their pandemic response and health care systems, as well as scale up its vaccination campaign, with a total contribution of $19 million towards the implementation of the Government’s National COVID-19 Preparedness and Response Plan,” said Feyi Boroffice, World Bank Resident Representative for The Gambia.
