Victoria man arrested after 'crime spree' involving attempted carjackings, break-ins

VICTORIA
Police say a man accused of multiple unsuccessful carjackings and break-and-enters was arrested Thursday morning.
The crime spree began just before 10 a.m. when the man reportedly broke into a suite at residential building in the 1800-block of Fern Street.
After he swiped several items from the suite, he attempted to steal an occupied car in the 1500-block of Pandora Avenue while armed with a knife, according to police.
The victim of the attempted carjacking stopped the suspect from entering their vehicle and then locked their doors, said VicPD in a release Thursday.
The man then tried to steal a scooter, but bystanders stopped him from taking the vehicle and he fled the area. ....

Man arrested after Victoria crime spree that included two attempted carjackings

The crime spree began shortly before 10 a.m., when the man broke into a suite in the 1800 block of Fern Street and stole several items, police said.
Police then got a report that the same man had gone to the 1500 block of Pandora Avenue, where he tried to get into an occupied vehicle while armed with a knife. He was stymied by the person in the car, who locked the doors.
The man tried to steal a nearby scooter, but ran away when a bystander stepped in.
He then went to the 1400-block of Pandora, where he tried to get into another occupied vehicle. Police said he struck that vehicle several times and brandished his knife, but failed to get in and ran away. ....

Man arrested after running after Victoria police vehicle with a knife

As the officers were leaving, a man ran after their vehicle while holding a knife over his head, police said. He wasn’t able to catch up to the vehicle and returned to his nearby encampment.
The officers returned and arrested a 31-year-old man for possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose. Police located a double-edged knife.
The man was found to be on release conditions prohibiting from possessing knives or other weapons.

Victoria police seek witnesses after man suffers serious injuries in stabbing

VICTORIA
Police are appealing to witnesses after a man was stabbed in the 900-block of Pandora Avenue in Victoria on Tuesday.
Investigators say the stabbing occurred before 1 p.m. in the courtyard of a community shelter, where officers found the victim suffering potentially life-threatening wounds.
Paramedics rushed the man to hospital where his injuries were upgraded to non-life-threatening following treatment.
Police are now looking for a white man between the ages of 20 and 30 who stands approximately 5’ 8” tall.
The alleged attacker has short, dark hair and was wearing a black T-shirt with white lettering on the front, black shorts, and a black backpack. ....
