The death toll from the plane crash in Sulu climbs to 45, as authorities continue search and rescue operations. Officials say five military personnel are still unaccounted for.
Metro Manila (CNN Philippines, July 4)  At least 45 people were killed after a Philippine Air Force C-130 plane carrying over 90 passengers crashed in a Sulu town on Sunday, the military reported.
The Joint Task Force Sulu said the death toll among army personnel as of 5:30 p.m. is at 42. The Department of National Defense also reported three fatalities among civilians on the ground, as authorities continue search and rescue operations. ....

MANILA: All 96 passengers of the Philippine Air Force plane that crashed on Sunday (Jul 4) have been accounted for, military chief Cirilito Sobejana said on Monday.
The crash happened when the Hercules C-130 transport plane, which was carrying mostly recent army graduates, overshot the runway while trying to land in sunny weather on Jolo island in Sulu province. ....

At least 45 people have died in a military plane crash in the southern Philippines after the aircraft missed the runway, military officials said.
The plane that had 96 people on board crashed into a coconut grove while landing at Patikul in the Sulu province, on Jolo Island, at around midday on Sunday. Some were able to jump off the aircraft before it burst into flames.
At least 49 people have been rescued from the burning wreckage of the Philippine Air Force s Lockheed C-130 transport aircraft, and are now being treated in hospital, defence minister Delfin Lorenzana said. ....

MANILA (Reuters) -A Philippines Air Force troop plane crashed and broke up in flames on a southern island on Sunday, killing at least 45 people after some jumped free, officials said, in the country’s worst military air disaster in nearly 30 years.
Pictures from the scene showed flames and smoke pouring from wreckage strewn among coconut palms as men in combat uniform milled around, while a column of thick black smoke rose into the sky. ....
