Attorney: Cheboygan council violated the Open Meetings Act in city manager search Cheboygan Daily Tribune CHEBOYGAN After negotiations with the previous candidate for new Cheboygan City Manager fell through, the Cheboygan City Council members voted Feb. 9 to enter into negotiation with a new candidate. Current Cheboygan City Manager Tom Eustice is planning on retiring from his position with the city in April. The original plan for the city was to have an assistant city manager in place by the end of November last year, to allow that person to shadow Eustice until his retirement, then step into the city manager position. After those plans ran into several snags, city officials are currently attempting to find the right person to fill Eustice s shoes when he retires. ....

Metro Detroit man made fraudulent unemployment claims in multiple states worth nearly $150k, feds say Scheme spread across 2 states Tags: DETROIT – Investigators are going after anyone who took advantage of the unemployment system. That includes a Metro Detroit man who investigators said withdrew nearly $150,000 before he was arrested. The Local 4 Defenders obtained federal court documents that break down how he was discovered. The scheme spread across two states and involved fake social security numbers, addresses and driver’s license numbers. The man is accused of using those to obtain as many as 28 cards meant to help people who were struggling without work during the COVID-19 pandemic.
