 Analytics India Magazine has announced the dates for the third edition of The Rising, the largest gathering of women data scientists in India. The conference will be held virtually on May 21 & 22.
 
The Rising brings together data science leaders and professionals from the industry and academia to exchange ideas and discuss the latest developments in data science. The forum also provides an opportunity for women from STEM backgrounds to network and showcase their achievements.
 
The Rising will act as a platform to spark conversations on gender imbalance. The women leaders in data science will deliberate on strategies to increase women participation in data science and AI and help them thrive in leadership roles. ....

Mental health pro sees growth in students' wellbeing due to consistency

Many students are seeing improvements in mental health thanks to new consistencies in their everyday lives and learning how to cope with the COVID-19 pandemic.
Morgan Sharpless, interim assistant director for WVU’s Carruth Center, pointed out the effect the pandemic has had on student’s everyday activities.
“I think there’s a variety of things that have definitely been challenging for students because of the pandemic that would’ve never probably come up before, having as much weight on students as it does now,” Sharpless said.
However, Sharpless said things are beginning to look up as students are adapting to the new normal. ....

Doha: More than 90 young men and women from across the Arab world participated in a training program highlighting the pillars of a successful marriage, organized by Doha International Family Institute in cooperation with Wifaq. 
Through a series of in-depth workshops held over five days, Doha International Family Institute (DIFI) – a member of Qatar Foundation (QF) – and the Family Consulting Center  (Wifaq) aimed to equip participants with essential knowledge on important family matters, as well as an understanding of the demands of married-life and how to overcome marital challenges.  ....

New workshop to help disabled better prepare for disaster

PEOPLE living with disability across Ipswich will soon be better prepared should disasters including severe storms or floods impact the city.
Dedicated workshops focused on creating an emergency plan specific to an individual’s needs will take place next week.
Ipswich City Council and the Queenslanders with Disability Network teamed up to deliver the sessions after 2016’s Census report revealed 17 per cent of Ipswich residents were living with disability.
Local Disaster Management Group deputy chair Councillor Kate Kunzelmann said the workshop would be practical and interactive for people with disability and their carers.
“We know that preparedness is our best defence against disaster,” Cr Kunzelmann said. ....
