Buncombe County Commissioners, during the May 11 budget meeting, approved ACS’s $3 million request for an undecided preschool plan.
On May 10, ACS presented the school board with five preschool plans the cheapest costing $1.9 million and the most expensive sitting at just more than $3 million. The Board postponed voting on a plan until the May 24 meeting.
But ACS still had to present a budget request to Buncombe County Board of Commissioners to avoid being in violation of state statute, which requires school boards to submit budget requests by May 15.
