Ghulam Mahmood Dogar has been appointed as the new Lahore CCPO.
LAHORE (Dunya News) – Umar Sheikh has on Friday been removed with immediate effect as the Lahore Capital City Police Officer (CCPO) after increase in crime rate in the provincial capital.
According to details, Ghulam Mehmood Dogar has been appointed as the new Lahore CCPO after being interviewed at the Chief Minister’s Office. Dogar earlier served as Faisalabad RPO and Deputy Inspector General (DIG) Technical Procurement.
Former Lahore CCPO Umar Sheikh, a controversial officer who faced heavy criticism for his inappropriate remarks regarding a rape victim, has been appointed as Deputy Commandant of the Punjab Constabulary, Farooqabad against a vacant post. ....

MULTAN: An accountability court judge Raja Safdar Iqbal has adjourned the Punjab Constabulary mega scam case till January 13. The Punjab Constabulary commandant and 81 other officials were charged with alleged corruption of Rs1.91 billion, causing huge loss to the national exchequer. Witness Zahid’s statements have been recorded during the hearing of the case. Further evidence will be heard on the next hearing. On the other hand, lawyers will discuss the pleas of the accused on December 24. During the hearing, a decision will be taken on the request of SSP Mahmood Al Hassan and district accounts officer while the request of SP Mian Irfanullah, will be discussed. ....

LAHORE: Punjab police did not intercept the motorcades of PDM leaders and their supporters across the Punjab province and gave them a free hand to hold the jalsa in Lahore.
Six SPs and over 10,000 cops were deployed at different points in the provincial metropolis. The Lahore police ensured the social distancing by staying far away from the participants of the jalsa. City Traffic Police seemed to devise no traffic plan to maintain flow of traffic at and around Minar e Pakistan, as result of which the traffic situation was worst on adjoining roads of the Minar-e-Pakistan. SHOs were seen discouraging the people from joining Jalsa. ....
