COLUMBUS With President Joe Biden in the White House and Democrats controlling Congress, a GOP lawmaker in Ohio wants to protect gun owners from overreaching federal laws.
Newly elected Rep. Mike Loychik, R-Bazetta, proposed turning Ohio into a Second Amendment sanctuary state, encouraging police not to enforce gun control measures.
Loychik s bill, which has not yet been introduced, would prohibit any tax or fee imposed on firearms but not other goods, any requirement to track firearms or their owners and any ban on law-abiding citizens owning guns. Especially with the current climate and rhetoric at the federal level, the preservation of our second amendment is now more crucial than ever before, Loychik said in a statement.
