⢠West Liberty University: Graduate students, 5 p.m. Friday; undergraduate students, Saturday (College of Education and Human Performance and the College of Liberal Arts, 10 a.m.; College of Sciences, noon; College of Arts and Communication, the Gary E. West College of Business and the School of Professional Studies, 3 p.m. All ceremonies will be held at the Academic, Sports and Recreation Complex.
⢠Bethany College: 10 a.m., Saturday, Bison Stadium.
⢠West Virginia Northern Community College: 7 p.m. May 14, Wheeling Island Stadium.
⢠Franciscan University of Steubenville: Baccalaureate Mass, 6 p.m. May 14; Science departments commencement, 9 a.m., May 15; arts departments commencement, 1 p.m. May 15. Commencement ceremonies will be held in the Finnegan Fieldhouse.

Pickup truck crashes into school bus; no serious injuries

RAYLAND, Ohio (AP) A flatbed pickup truck crashed into a school bus on a highway in eastern Ohio on Friday morning, leaving several students with minor injuries, authorities said.
WTOV reported the crash occurred on County Road 15 in Rayland, according to the Ohio State Patrol. The bus was carrying students to Buckeye Local High School, though it wasn’t immediately clear how many people were on board.
A preliminary investigation found the pickup truck apparently driven by another student came over a hill and swerved out of its lane and crashed head on into the bus. The pickup driver may have been trying to avoid another vehicle that was broken down in the roadway, authorities said.

The Martins Ferry team Funky Eels place first for Best Execution in the “Sea” portion of the Sea Air and Land Challenge sponsored by Penn State University and hosted at Buckeye Local High School in Rayland on Friday. According to the school, theirs was one of the few live competitions. Students from Wheeling Central Catholic, Martins Ferry and Buckeye Local high schools showcased their science, technology, engineering and math skills by using robots designed to operate on land, sea and air. Wheeling Central had 19 participants, Buckeye Local had six and Martins Ferry had three.
