Flood Warning for Withlacoochee, Ochlokonee and Apalachicola Rivers Posted at 2:35 PM, Feb 17, 2021 and last updated 2021-02-18 21:45:45-05 (WTXL) â The National Weather Service issued a Flood Warning for the Withlacoochee, Ochlokonee and Apalachicola Rivers. Minor flooding is forecast. The warning for the Ochlokonee River is near Thomasville, affecting Thomas and Grady Counties, and near Havana, affecting Leon and Gadsden Counties. NWS also issued a warning for the Ochlokonee River near Bloxham, affecting Wakulla, Leon and Liberty Counties. The warning for the Withlacoochee River affects Lowndes and Brooks Counties, including Valdosta, Quitman and Pinetta. NWS issued a warning for the Apalachicola River near Blountstown, affecting Liberty, Calhoun, Gulf and Franklin Counties. ....
A winter storm continued to move across the Northeast Mississippi area on Wednesday and Thursday, bringing heavy snowfall and ice accumulation. According to the National Weather Service (NWS) in Memphis, a mixture of sleet, snow and freezing rain came across the area late Wednesday night with light to moderate snow continuing in counties northwest of the Tupelo area. In Lee County, data reported to the NWS showed areas in south Tupelo receiving up to 2 inches of snow overnight Wednesday into Thursday. There were reports of Guntown receiving up to 4 inches. In Corinth, the city received up to four inches of snow. ....

The National Weather Service indicated that locally dense fog will reduce visibility to about a half or quarter of a mile or less at times until around 12:15 p.m. “Anyone out driving should be prepared for sudden changes in visibility, use low beam headlines or fog lamps and allow extra braking distance in case a sudden stop is needed,” the weather service said. ....
