Dec. 29 A body has been found on the shores of North Carolina s Croatan Sound, three weeks after a kayaker went missing in the same general area.
The discovery was made around 3 p.m. Monday, according to John Beardsley of the N.C. Wildlife Resources Commission. The Croatan Sound runs between the Alligator River National Wildlife Refuge and Roanoke Island, adjacent to the Outer Banks.
A duck hunter discovered a deceased person on the shore line between Manns Harbor and Stumpy Point near Point Peter Road, Beardsley said in a release obtained by McClatchy News. ....

Dare Co. Police investigate body found on shoreline

DARE COUNTY, N.C. - A duck hunter discovered a deceased person on the shore line between Manns Harbor and Stumpy Point near Point Peter Rd. around 3 p.m., Monday.
Dare County Sheriffs Department, NC Wildlife Law Enforcement, Dare County Medical Examiners, and Stumpy Point Volunteer Fire Department worked together to recover the body.
According to the news release, officials were not able to positively identify the body at the scene, so the body will be moved to the NC Medical Examinerâs Office in Greenville for an autopsy.
Police believe the man could be identified as the boater who went missing earlier in December, according to a report. ....
