(HACKETTSTOWN, NJ) The final reading in this season’s Women Playwrights Series at Centenary Stage Company is Vita Patrick Morales’s 
Loretta the Yodeling Cowgirl taking place on Wednesday, May 5th at 7:30pm in the Sitnik Theatre of the Lackland Performing Arts Center. The play is inspired by a true story of Loretta and her wiry friend, Em, who live in a home for the aged in Mount Jewett, Pennsylvania. Their days are the same and their banter circuitous. But when Loretta learns that her daughters are about to sell the family home, she travels back in time to the days of her Yodeling Cowgirl fame, and the choices she made for happiness.​ ....

East Lynne Theater Celebrates Women s History Month With Reading of SOMETHING TO VOTE FOR

East Lynne Theater Company will present a reading of Something to Vote For by Charlotte Perkins Gilman for free, due to support from The New Jersey Council for the Humanities through its NJ Women Vote: The 19th Amendment at 100 initiative, and The New Jersey Theatre Alliance s Stages Festival.
Gilman (1860 - 1935) known for her novel The Yellow Wallpaper, published this forty-minute one-act in her monthly magazine, The Forerunner, in 1911. Such plays were important for the suffrage movement because they could be read aloud and/or staged in private homes, bringing this controversial topic into living rooms. Many of the British suffrage plays survived - most of the American ones did not. This both witty and profound play take ....

Centenary Stage Company Presents World Premiere of Darrah Cloud s TURNING
Turning is the story of a group of women from Newark, NJ who began to train in backyard gyms for what would become the experience of a lifetime, the 1936 Olympics.by BWW News Desk
Centenary Stage Company will open the World Premiere production of Turning by Darrah Cloud Thursday, February 25 at 7:30 PM with performances running in the Sitnik Theatre of the Lackland Performing Arts Center until March 7. Centenary Stage Company will also offer a Live Stream option for the Sunday, February 28 2:00 PM performance. Additionally, CSC will host a post-show talkback with the playwright after the Sunday, February 28 2:00 PM performance for both in-person and live streaming audiences. Ticket prices for the in-person performances range from $25.00 to $27.50 for adults with discounts available for seniors, students and children under 12.
