Men's DIII First Round: Catholic Looks to Showcase Growth; Huge Second Round Looms Sunday

Stevens vs. Catholic, 4 p.m. Saturday
Stevens enters the 2021 NCAA Tournament as a regular of sorts while Catholic will be making just its third appearance in the tournament. In their first year under head coach Jon Sax, Catholic was granted a Pool A bid, has worked for an undefeated season, and downed the three-time returning conference champion Elizabethtown twice. With the schedule limited to solely Landmark opponents, the Cardinals have not had the same tests that they typically would during a regular season. Predicting how good this team truly is becomes a bit difficult as there are no cross-reference games. That changes in Round 1, and we will finally get to see exactly how good this Catholic team is.   ....

A special congratulations to Coach Steve Koudelka for earning his 300th win, the 22nd NCAA men’s coach of all-time to do so.
In 25 seasons at the helm of the Lynchburg lacrosse program, Koudelka has redefined what it means to have consistent, discipline, and hard-working teams. Across the sport you will find many fantastic coaches, and not many can match coach Kudelka’s ability to get the most out of their team.
Perhaps no greater testament to his impact on the sport are the numerous rising coaches in the sport who played under him or coached beside him. ....
