Sunscreen recall: What the finding of a cancer-causing chemical means for you

    (CNN) The burning heat of summer has us all reaching for sunscreens. But before you slather that product on your skin, first check to see if it is part of a voluntary recall by sunscreen brands Neutrogena and Aveeno.
The companies recently pulled several sunscreens from market shelves after independent testing had found they were contaminated with a cancer-causing chemical called benzene.
Exposure to benzene increases the risk of developing leukemia and other blood disorders, according to the National Cancer Institute. ....

Congress to vote on bill setting two-year clock for PFAS water limits


A Michigan congresswoman says a federal bill requiring drinking water limits for the family of chemicals known as PFAS, which had been found in nationally high limits in parts of Bucks and Montgomery counties, could soon be moving forward.
Democratic Rep. Debbie Dingell said Wednesday her PFAS Action Act of 2021, setting a two-year deadline to make limits for PFAS in drinking water, could come to a House vote later this week.
Dingell said the bill is a much-needed bipartisan push to regulate per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances, two of the most prevalent PFAS chemicals found in drinking water across the country. ....
