Cook: I ll Be Working With New Personnel and New Staff Going Forward Friday, 23rd Apr 2021 10:34 Manager Paul Cook gave no hint of his assistant manager plans at this morning’s press conference, his Chesterfield, Portsmouth and Wigan sidekick Leam Richardson having been named the Latics’ permanent boss earlier in the week, while other members of his DW Stadium backroom team are also in new jobs. Asked whether he was disappointed that Richardson wouldn’t be joining him at Portman Road, Cook said: “Again it s football, guys, isn t it? It s football and it s circumstances, and it s all of the above. No one could have predicted the outcome of Wigan s scenario coming off the last 12 months. ....
Murph s Old School Backing the Blues Against Forest Wednesday, 22nd Apr 2015 13:59 The Portman Road faithful will be joined by a party of youngsters from striker Daryl Murphy’s old school, St Paul s Community College in Waterford, for Saturday’s crucial game against Nottingham Forest. The current Town squad has strong Waterford connections with Stephen and Noel Hunt also hailing from the Irish city and manager Mick McCarthy’s father having come from the area. The trip has been organised by teacher Barry Williams, who earlier in the season decorated a classroom with Town memorabilia (see photo above), some of it supplied by old boy Murphy. ....
Wigan Confirm Richardson as Permanent Boss Wednesday, 21st Apr 2021 17:57 Wigan Athletic have confirmed the appointment of Leam Richardson, Paul Cook’s Latics, Chesterfield and Portsmouth assistant, as their permanent manager on a three-year deal. Richardson has been in caretaker charge at the DW Stadium for much of this season and has impressed new owners Phoenix 2021 Ltd. The 41-year-old didn’t rule out joining Cook at Portman Road after his appointment early in March, however, with Wigan hitting run of form - they have won their last four - to move out of the relegation zone, his permanent appointment by the Latics was looking increasingly likely. ....
Northampton Town 2-0 Ipswich Town - Half-time Tuesday, 20th Apr 2021 19:57 Two Peter Kioso goals have given Northampton a 2-0 half-time lead over the Blues at Sixfields. Kayden Jackson and Freddie Sears came into an otherwise unchanged Town team. Jackson replaced James Norwood, who suffered a recurrence of his hamstring injury at Charlton on Saturday, as the main striker, while Sears was in for Teddy Bishop, who also dropped out of the 18 due to illness. The former West Ham man started in behind Jackson. Among the watching scouts was former Blues forward Noel Hunt, who was understood to be being considered for a role at Portman Road by manager Paul Cook when he was appointed. ....
Northampton Town 3-0 Ipswich Town - Match Report Tuesday, 20th Apr 2021 20:59 Town’s hopes of making the play-offs were all but ended as Peter Kioso scored twice and Ryan Watson once as they were beaten 3-0 by Northampton Town at Sixfields. Kioso netted from corners in the eighth and 32nd minute in a first period in which the Cobblers could have been further in front and Gwion Edwards and Freddie Sears hit the woodwork, while Kane Vincent-Young and Oli Hawkins spurned golden opportunities in the second. With six minutes remaining Watson completed another dreadful evening for the Blues, whose goal drought has now extended to 529 minutes. ....
