FEC approves National Quality Control policy to ensure standard of Nigerian-made goods


The Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) has explained why the Federal Government is spending the huge sum of $1.5 billion on the Port Harcourt refinery, as it weighs in on the controversies and unverified claims by some Nigerians on the funds for the project.
The state oil giant said that the funds approved for the 210,000 barrels per day capacity refinery was for complete rehabilitation and not turnaround maintenance.
According to a report from NAN, this disclosure was made by the Group Managing Director (GMD) of NNPC, Mele Kyari, during a chat with the press on issues surrounding the rehabilitation of the refinery in Abuja, on Monday, March 23, 2021. ....

FEC Approves Policy to Stop Rejection of Nigerian Goods

The Federal Executive Council (FEC) yesterday approved the National Quality Policy to stop rejection of Nigerian goods exported out of the country.
The approval which was given during the 31st virtual meeting also included N9 billion approved for the construction of various roads and power projects across the country.
Briefing newsmen after the meeting, Minister of Industry Trade and Investment, Chief Niyi Adebayo, said the essence of the policy is to ensure goods exported out of Nigeria are accepted in the countries they are being exported to.
According to him, “For a long time, Nigerian exporters have been suffering because of lack of quality of their goods. We felt that it was high time we actually have a policy which will create a situation whereby standard of the Nigerian goods that are exported would be raised, such that that rejection would stop. ....

FEC approves N995 million for road rehabilitation, communication equipment to enhance road safety

The Federal Executive Council (FEC) on Wednesday in Abuja approved N995million for road rehabilitation and procurement of an information and communication device that would enhance highway management system for roads across the country.
Minister of Works and Housing, Babatunde Fashola, disclosed this to State House Correspondents at the end of the Council meeting presided over by President Muhammadu Buhari.
He stated that N203 million of the amount would be expended on the procurement of an information and communication device while the remaining N792 million was meant for rehabilitation of roads in Zamfara.
“The Ministry of Works and Housing presented two memoranda to the Council. The first was a memorandum for a contract for the design and deployment of a contract performance and compliance for highway and road access management system for N203,845,332.59. ....

The Federal Executive Council (FEC) on Wednesday approved the National Quality Policy intended to ensure that goods exported from Nigeria are acceptable to the countries of import.
Briefing correspondents at the end meeting presided over by President Muhammadu Buhari at the presidential villa, Abuja on Wednesday, Minister of Industry Trade and Investment, Niyi Adebayo, explained that the policy would help the country’s exporters who have suffered for a long time.
He said: “For a long time, Nigerian exporters have been suffering because of lack of quality of their goods. We felt that it was high time we actually have a policy which will create a situation whereby standard of the Nigerian goods that are exported would be raised such that that rejection would stop. ....

Gombe Gov Pledges to Give Priority to Wealth Generating Sectors

Gombe State Governor, Alhaji Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya has again reiterated his administration’s commitment to give priority attention to sectors that can generate wealth and uplift the living conditions of the people of the state.
The governor stated this yesterday at a quarterly media parley to give account of his administration’s stewardship to Gombe people in a live broadcast beamed on Local TV, Radio stations as well as social media platforms in the state.
Speaking on one of his administration’s flagship projects, the Gombe Industrial Park, the governor said a preliminary site plan has since been designed and submitted, detailing the architectural master plan of the project. ....
