41 political parties delisted by the Election Commission of Nepal. With the elimination of 41 political bodies, Nepal is now left with 95 political parties.
Previously, 136 parties existed in the country.
The Commission stripped the parties of their recognition after failing to present their audit reports for three years.
 
In addition, the Commission has stipulated that none shall use the names, flags, and symbols of the disbanded parties for one year.

In a major development on May 21, Bidya Devi Bhandari, President of Nepal, at the recommendation of Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli dissolved the House of Representatives (HoR), and declared the dates of mid-term polls to be held on November 12 and 19 respectively, almost two years before its expiry. The decision to hold elections in November in two phases was taken as per Article 76 (7) of the Nepalese Constitution following the event in which Prime Minister Oli, the leader of the Communist Party of Nepal–Unified Marxist-Leninist (CPN-UML) failed to prove the majority in the House. PM Oli recommended House dissolution as he felt that the opposition group within his party, CPN-UML, and other parties did not allow his government to function smoothly. ....

KATHMANDU: Nepal s Election Commission has advised the government led by embattled Prime Minister K P Sharma Oli to conduct the mid-term elections slated for November 12 and 19 in a single phase to prevent the further spread of coronavirus infections during electioneering.
After a meeting with Prime Minister K P Oli on Saturday, Chief Election Commissioner Dinesh Kumar Thapaliya said it is Election Commission s constitutional duty to successfully conduct polls once the date has been announced. ....
