June 9, 2021 Between using the racetrack less frequently and implementing several noise-mitigation strategies, Bristol Motor Speedway would vastly reduce the noise impact on the neighborhoods surrounding the fairgrounds, according to a consultant s report made public on Tuesday. Jackson Wrightson with the Texas-based firm WJHW presented the study results to the Metro Nashville Board of Fair Commissioners on Tuesday, then discussed the report with the Tennessee Lookout. Subscribe Along with traffic and parking, noise is the biggest concern for neighbors, who have been engaged with a decade-plus battle with racetrack operators about reducing the impact of racing. Bristol Motor Speedway is seeking to take over the racetrack and renovate the facility. State legislation allowed for much of the renovation to be funded with fees on tickets to events at the racetrack, but the full financing plan has not been revealed. ....

A provision for the federal financial aid that they’d been lobbying for since uniting as the National Independent Venue Association at the beginning of the pandemic was included in December’s 11th-hour second stimulus bill. But there are enormous challenges in the venue business that have nothing to do with COVID-19. Case in point: As first reported by Tennessee Lookout’s Nate Rau, the property home to Nashville’s historic Exit/In has been put up for sale, potentially putting the club’s future in jeopardy. ....
Tennessee Lookout reports. Located at 2208 Elliston Place on the so-called Rock Block, the property offers about 0.5 acres. Anthony Rentals and Gene Nash, among others, own the property, having paid $150,000 for it in 1976, according to Metro records. Of note, Anthony Rentals sold for $2.9 million a separate Rock Block property in July 2020 to an entity tied to Nashville-based developer Tony Giarratana and real estate investor (and long-time Giarratana friend) Marc Stengel. The addresses of the property slated for a major update (read here) are 2201/2205 and 2209 Elliston Place. The owners of the Exit/In property have enlisted Axson West, a principal with Nashville-based Southeast Venture, to handle the marketing and sale of the property. ....
