The Kansas Corn Yield contest was created to recognize high-yielding corn farmers across the state and increase efficiency for greater sustainability and profitability. MANHATTAN, Kan. The Kansas farmers who entered the Kansas Corn Yield Contest overcame adversity and used their management skills to produce high yields in 2020. Kansas farmers from across the state entered many excellent yields in the 2020 Kansas Corn Yield Contest. For the second consecutive year, Tyler Hands with Triangle H Farms based in Finney County, entered the top irrigated yield in the contest at 307 bushels per acre with Pioneer P1828AM on one of the farm’s fields located in Haskell County. K-State Research and Extension will host the 18th annual Cover Your Acres Winter Conference for crop producers and consultants from 1 to 5 p.m. (CST) on Tuesday, Jan. 19 in an online format.
Cover Your Acres is a producer-driven meeting focused on new ideas and research-based updates in crop production in northwest Kansas and the central High Plains region.
The conference, which typically draws more than 400 attendees from Kansas and other states, highlights the latest technology, methods, and conservation practices to improve crop production in the region. Rollout of a potentially pandemic-ending vaccine in Kansas a state still seeing some of the highest infection rates in the country looks at best uneven. And that’s put the state in last place, at least in terms of reporting, for the rate that it’s vaccinated its residents against the killer virus.
