Concerned Youth of Volta Region angry over offensive textbooks against Ewe tribes

The Concerned Youth of Volta Region, have angrily reacted to what they described as offensive textbooks that have been published and distributed to schools.
They said the textbooks are distasteful and denigrating to the Ewe communities.
In a press release jointly signed by the group s Convener, Mr Wonder Setsoafia Deynu and Mr Bernard Edem Ahiekpor, Public Relations Officer respectively, they are calling for the withdrawal of the said books.
History of Ghana book 3 authored by Badu Nkansah and Nelly Martinson Anim, and Golden English book 4, authored by Okyere Naafi Alexander, these, the group said were written in bad faith to criticize the image and history of Ewes. ....

Africa Education Watch has called on the National Security Secretariat to probe how some primary school textbooks containing stereotypical content about Ewes, found their way onto the market in commercial quantities when they had not been approved.
“We call for further investigations by National Security to ascertain how samples of books submitted to NaCCA by the publishers and queried by same in September 2020, found their way in commercial quantities unto the Ghanaian book market in 2021”, the group said in a statement.
The National Council for Curriculum Assessment (NaCCA) said the three textbooks: “History of Ghana for Basic 6 by Golden Publications, which carries distasteful information about Dr Kwame Nkrumah and the CPP; History of Ghana Textbook 3 by Badu Nkansah Publications, which features a song that shows the Ewes identity; Golden English Basic 4 by G ....
