“Men and men are not supposed to be together, Ayala recalled the employee telling him. She was talking about her God, her heritage and her family.
The video also showed the couple standing up for themselves, telling another employee, “She s not supposed to say that. That’s discrimination.
The other employee tried to make it right by saying she has nothing against gay people, but the confrontation continued and Ayala called the police. That s when the employee began to apologize.

A gay New York City couple say they were harassed and asked to leave a restaurant this month because of their sexuality.
Nelson Ayala and Jamel Brown Jr., who live in the Bronx, say the incident happened at the nearby Puerto Rican restaurant La Isla Cuchifrito. They say a woman who worked behind the counter made homophobic remarks after they had ordered.
In a video taken by Ayala and shared with NBC News, the employee can be heard saying “hombre, mujer” repeatedly, which translates into “man, woman.” She then says, in a mix of English and Spanish, “Everything correct my family: hombre, mujer, nino y nina,” adding the Spanish words for boy and girl. In a separate video shot by Ayala, the woman can be heard repeatedly apologizing. ....

A gay couple claims that they were asked to leave a restaurant in the Bronx after a public display of affection.
Nelson Ayala and Jamal Brown Jr. told News 12 that a female employee at La Isla Cuchifrito Restaurant in Mott Haven berated the married couple and asked them to leave after they affectionately embraced.
Other employees reportedly remained bystanders during the Jan. 15 incident, which ultimately ended after the couple canceled their order, left the restaurant, and reported the incident of bias to the authorities. ....
