This comprehensive legislation will ensure a coordinated approach to Florida’s coastal and inland resiliency. The new program will enhance our efforts to protect our inland waterways, coastlines, shores and coral reefs, which serve as invaluable natural defenses against sea level rise.   Additionally, this bill and the 2021-2022 budget are part of the largest investment in the state’s history – over $640 million – to support efforts to ensure state and local communities are prepared to deal with the impacts of sea level rise, intensified storms and flooding.

(WWSB) - In a speech outlining economic recovery in the state of Florida, Gov. Ron DeSantis recommended that all first responders, police, EMTs, firefighters and paramedics should receive a one-time $1,000 bonus. According to a news release, DeSantis wants to provide the one-time payments to these individuals because of “what they have had to deal with.” DeSantis also recommended that $73 million go to fixing CONNECT, the state’s troubled online unemployment system, which has caused problems for those applying for assistance and has resulted in a lawsuit against the site’s creator, Deloitte.
