TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WWSB) - In a speech outlining economic recovery in the state of Florida, Gov. Ron DeSantis recommended that all first responders, police, EMTs, firefighters and paramedics should receive a one-time $1,000 bonus.
According to a news release, DeSantis wants to provide the one-time payments to these individuals because of “what they have had to deal with.”
DeSantis also recommended that $73 million go to fixing CONNECT, the state’s troubled online unemployment system, which has caused problems for those applying for assistance and has resulted in a lawsuit against the site’s creator, Deloitte.
