D65 targets schedules, jobs to cut nearly $2M

A budget cut proposal going to the Evanston/Skokie Board of Education Monday night lists a series of cuts to offset a $1.9 million shortfall in the upcoming budget year.
That represents about a 1.3% reduction from the current year’s $146 million spending level.
Many of the reductions come from purchasing fewer supplies, and fixing fewer things which break. There are also savings in consultant services and professional development and training ,and through not filling several vacant positions. ....

Hawaii Leilehua Complex Schools Introduce Unruly Splats to Engage Students in STEM and Active-Play

Unruly Studios today announced a partnership with Hawaii s Leilehua Complex to incorporate STEM education across classrooms. Teachers and students will have access to Unruly Splats, programmable floor buttons that students can code to light up, make sounds, and collect points to play games like whack-a-mole, four corners, or any game of their own making.

Unruly Splats break all the rules of traditional computer science education by getting students out from behind the computer screen and engaging with each other, said Grant Toyooka, a resource manager for the Leilehua Complex. BUFFALO, N.Y. (WKBW) — The pandemic has changed a lot for educators, and one of the biggest challenges is providing students with access to readings.
“As everybody knows, things have been so different this year and one of the things that have been really effected is libraries abilities to get books in the hands of patrons, School Library Media Specialist at both Kenmore East and Kenmore West schools Mary Kamela said. And above all else really, that’s what we want to do.”
So her schools, and the rest of the Kenmore and Town of Tonawanda school districts, partnered up with the Buffalo and Erie County Public Library to provide its students with thousands of new ebooks. ....
