Click and collect library link launched in Harlech


A NEW facility is set to open in Harlech where people can collect and return their library books.
Click and Collect Library Links have been set-up by Gwynedd Libraries to make it easy for the county’s people to order and collect books from the Library at a location close to them, without having to travel to their usual Library.
Siop Dewi in Penrhyndeudraeth has been very busy for the past three years as a Click and Collect Link, but the people of Harlech can now take full advantage of this facility.
From June 4, a new location is opening in Harlech where people can order and collect library books. This will be in addition to the facility in Penrhyndeudraeth. ....

Sandwell solution to lockdown loneliness - sharing a good book


ONLINE book readings are just one of the things being offered under a new scheme to reduce isolation across Sandwell.
The Libraries and Archive Service is launching a new Reading Friends project aimed at connecting people and reducing loneliness.
It will include a new telephone reading group, one-to-one telephone conversations with Reading Befrienders, and online book readings for all ages which will be showcased on the library service’s Facebook page.
It’s free to join and open to all adults.
The Libraries Service is receiving funding from The Reading Agency to enable the start of a Reading Friends programme. ....

Library services wants young people in Tenbury to try their hand at writing poetry


Worcestershire’s annual poetry competition has opened, inviting anyone aged 8 – 18 years to take part.
Children and young people from across the county are invited to take part in the poetry competition by submitting two examples of their work.  
Submissions will be judged in three age categories: 8 – 11, 12 – 15 and 16 – 18, with one winner from each.
And of these three finalists, one young person will be awarded the title of Young Poet Laureate 2021.
The annual competition is run jointly by Worcestershire County Council’s Libraries Service and Severn Arts.
Participants this year to submit one poem based on the theme ‘adventure’ and a second about anything at all. ....
