Marcel Feil to leave as artistic director at Foam - Foam Fotografiemuseum Amsterdam

Marcel Feil to leave as artistic director at Foam
After eighteen years at Foam, Marcel Feil will leave as artistic director as of 1 July.

I will soon turn fifty-three and would like the chance to deploy my knowledge and experience elsewhere. So I have decided to stop as artistic director as of 1 July.” ....

Obituary for the artist duo Broomberg & Chanarin | Foam

With the reading of its last will and testament in the exhibition
The Late Estate Broomberg & Chanarin at Fabra i Coats in Barcelona on 20 February, the artist duo Broomberg & Chanarin will announce itself economically, creatively and conceptually dead. Having both been brought up for periods in South Africa, Adam Broomberg (b. South Africa, 1970) and Oliver Chanarin (b. Britain, 1971) started their collaboration when editing
COLORS, the magazine published by Bennetton. “We weren’t photographers and we weren’t editors,” said Broomberg. But suddenly they found themselves at the core of the magazine. Aesthetica Magazine - Proximity and Vulnerability

Proximity and Vulnerability
Alec Soth (b. 1969) is widely recognised as a chronicler of life on the margins. His breakthrough into the industry came as a Magnum photographer with the 2004 series
Sleeping by the Mississippi – a collection of images documenting various people and places across the southern state.
As he travelled, he captured the often-overlooked elements of life in the USA, recording an eclectic mix of subjects, from empty gas stations at night to abandoned flags and furniture scattered along the riverbanks. Soth’s most recent project,
I Know How Furiously Your Heart Is Beating, marks a change of direction. The body of work, which is currently on view at Foam Amsterdam, is vastly more intimate – comprising close portraits accompanied by still lifes of personal belongings.  ....
