Indonesia Increases Stamp Duty 66 Percent

(UU Nomor 10 Tahun 2020) takes effect from 01 January 2021.
As reported by
Nusa Bali, on that date, official excise stamps in the denomination of Rp. 3,000 and Rp. 6,000 will no longer be accepted with documents now requiring an excise denominated at Rp. 10,000.
The Director-General of Taxation, Suryo Utomo, explained that the earlier law will still govern documents requiring a government duty stamp executed before 01 January 2021 on duty stamps (
UU Nomor 13 Tahun 1985).
Stamps issued under the old law can be used on documents to a minimum value of Rp. 9,000 until 31 December 2021.
Suryo explained on Tuesday, 08 December 2020: “The law on stamp duty has been officially approved and follows the development of the national economy, law, technology, and society. One of the economic developments is linked to the shift from printed paper documents to electronic documents.” ....
