Administrators with the district will be posting preliminary return-to-school protocols on the school district website and invite the public to review and send comments on returning to school as the pandemic appears to continue to wane. “This is not for the board to vote on at this time. This is our first blush at this, and we’re going to put it on the website and invite public input,” Superintendent Joe Graves said during Monday night s regular Mitchell Board of Education meeting. “We’ll use the same format as last year, but the information is quite different. The board approved the action by unanimous vote at the Mitchell Career & Technical Education Academy during the latest regular meeting of the board. Joe Graves, superintendent for the Mitchell School District, said school officials determined the source of the problem was an air unit in the kitchen area. The district let out bids for the project, and received one bid from Johnson Controls in the amount of $133,175, which he recommended the board accept. ....

(Matt Gade / Republic) A construction company’s plan to build a new facility to house an early childhood education program received support from the Mitchell Planning and Zoning Commission. To advance the building plan, Paul Groenweg, of Groenweg Construction, applied for a conditional use permit to allow the 4,515-square-foot building to become the new location for Mitchell’s Head Start early education program. The Planning Commission on Monday unanimously approved the conditional use permit. ....
