Excelsior Correspondent JAMMU, Aug 4: Life Insurance Corporation (LIC) employees under the banner of Northern Zone Insurance Employees’ Association Srinagar Division as per the call of All India Insurance Employees’ Association held massive demonstrations today in front of LIC offices of Jammu & Kashmir against privatization of United India Insurance Company. The Joint Front of Trade Unions in PSGI had given a call for one day strike on August 4, 2021 (Wednesday) against the passage of the Bill in the Lok Sabha and we are supporting this cause, said Pawan Gupta, Divisional Secretary. The demonstration in Jammu region was led by Pawan Gupta, Divisional Secy NZIEA Srinagar Division; and in valley, by AM Tantray, Divisional president and Ajaz Ahmad Dar, Joint Secretary, Fyaz Gul, vice president, Amarjeet Singh, Syed Aadil Imam, Bashir Ahmad, Abdul Majid Sheikh and Parvaiz Ahmad. ....

The protest call was given by the Mahasangh wherein workers from different districts and blocks participated. Protesting Anganwadi Workers and Helpers were demanding that the Government should declare them as permanent employees of the Government and minimum wages should be paid to them as per the rules of Centre. They also demanded designation to their posts like pre-primary teachers and pre-primary assistant teachers as per the new education policy 2020. More demands included gratuity, leave salary, medical benefits etc to Anganwadi Workers and Helpers at par with Government employees. ....

HC refuses bail to medical surgeon accused in culpable homicide case ANI | Updated: Dec 12, 2020 13:58 IST New Delhi [India], December 12 (ANI): The Delhi High Court has refused to grant bail to a medical surgeon, who was accused of performing surgery on a pregnant woman despite not being a qualified Obstetrician and Gynaecologist and nor there being an urgency. The woman, who was 19-20 weeks pregnant, had died during the surgery. A single-judge bench of Justice Manoj Kumar Ohri dismissed the bail plea of medical surgeon Suresh Chandra Gupta and noted he has not denied the accusation that he had performed the alleged surgery on the deceased. ....
