Arcadia man dies after fall from elevated hunting blind in Fountain County

COVINGTON, INDIANA — Indiana Conservation Officers are investigating a fall from an elevated hunting blind that resulted in the death of a hunter this morning.
At approximately 11:00 a.m., Fountain County Dispatch received a 911 call reference a hunter who had fallen from an elevated hunting blind near the 2000 block of West Snoddy Road.
After hunting this morning, Jimmy Grider, 69, of Arcadia, fell approximately 8 feet from the elevated blind. Despite life-saving efforts by first responders, Grider was pronounced dead by the Fountain County Coroner.
An autopsy has been scheduled to determine an exact cause of death. Grider was not wearing a full body harness or any other climbing safety gear at the time of the incident. ....

FOUNTAIN COUNTY, Ind. Indiana Conservation Officers say an Arcadia man died Wednesday morning in a hunting mishap in Fountain County.
Police were called to the 2000 block of West Snoddy Road at about 11 a.m. on a report that a person had fallen from an elevated hunting blind. 
The location is south of Covington, Indiana.
According to a media advisory from IDNR, 69-year-old Jimmy Grider fell about eight feet. He was pronounced dead by the county coroner. An autopsy has been scheduled. ....

Dr. Sean Sharma, Fountain & Warren Counties Health Department medical director, gave a brief update on the states of COVID-19 in the bi-county area as of April 15.
Sharm wrote in an email, “The spread of COVID-19 has increased over the past month in both Fountain & Warren County and the State of Indiana.  Fountain County remains in “blue” this week, and is expected to move toward “yellow” over the coming week.  Warren County moved into “yellow”.  It is felt that much of the current spread in the U.S. as a whole is related to the more contagious U.K. variant. Not all tests are being genetically analyzed by the state to determine the variant type, but with several hundred confirmed cases in Indiana, we can safely assume this variant is also present in Fountain & Warren County.” ....
