Two-time Olympic medallist Sushil Kumar is seen holding a stick/baseball bat in the video shot by his associate NEW DELHI: In mounting trouble for arrested wrestler Sushil Kumar, a video has surfaced allegedly showing him assaulting another wrestler Sagar Dhankad at Chhatrasal Stadium on the night of May 4. Dhankad, who is seen lying on the ground in the video, died later. In the video, the two-time Olympic medallist can be seen holding a stick/baseball bat. There are a dozen others in the frame too. The video was shot by Kumar’s associate Prince, who has also been arrested. Kumar allegedly wanted to circulate the video in the wrestling circle, apart from rival gangs, to “send a message across” and prove his dominance. Prince had shared the video with a few of his friends. ....
Sushil Kumar NEW DELHI: Two days after TOI reported that Delhi Police had stumbled upon substantial evidence on arrested wrestler Sushil Kumar’s links with gangster Neeraj Bawana, four of the latter’s henchmen have been arrested. The quartet works for the Kala Asaudia-Bawana gang and their presence was established at Chhatrasal Stadium where wrestler Sagar Dhankad was murdered. The arrested men Bhupinder Bhupi, Mohit Bholi, Gulab Pehelwan and Manjeet Chhunilal belong to Jhajjar and Rohtak. The Scorpio seized from the spot belonged to Bholi. DCP (Rohini) Pranav Tayal said, “The four men, who had non-bailable warrants issued against them, were nabbed by a team led by ACP Brahmjeet Singh and inspector Ishwar Singh. They were found to be associates of Sushil Kumar in wrestler Sagar Dhankad’s murder case at Chhatrasal Stadium. They have revealed the entire conspiracy and the sequence of events.” ....
988 New Delhi, May 24 The Delhi Police are probing if one of the three vehicles, impounded from Chhatrasal Stadium following the brawl involving Olympian Sushil Kumar that left a wrestler dead, is linked to the Neeraj Bawania gang. A source said the police had impounded three vehicles, including a Mahindra Scorpio and a Honda City, on May 4. The source said the police were investigating if Sushil had any links with members of the Bawania gang. The police are gathering the details of Scorpio. The wrestler was arrested on Sunday morning along with his aide Ajay Kumar, after being on the run for over 18 days in several states following the death of 23-year-old wrestler Sagar Dhankar of injuries sustained in the brawl. A Delhi Police source said that the police has seized three vehicles, including a Mahindra Scorpio and a Honda City, from the stadium campus on May 4. All the vehicles are currently parked in Model Town pollice station. The source said that the police is investigating if Sushil Kumar had any links with the members of Bawania gang. ....
May 23, 2021, 03:30PM ISTSource: TOI.in Wrestler Sushil Kumar was arrested by Delhi Police from Mundka early on Sunday in connection with the murder of former international wrestler Sagar Dhankar inside Chhatrasal Stadium in North- West Delhi. He was on the run for over a fortnight. Kumar s associate has been arrested as well. Police have found that the fight took place over a flat owned by Kumar in Model Town in which the deceased wrestler had previously been living. This has been corroborated in a video shot during the brawl in which Kumar is seen assaulting Dhankad. According to the police, the deceased wrestler, 23-year-old Sagar Dhankad, used to earlier live in the flat in Model Town which is owned by Kumar. The two wrestlers had an ongoing dispute over the rent of the flat which snowballed into a fatal brawl after Dhankad abused Kumar.
