A troubled son set fire to his mum’s wheelie bin at her Kendal home having earlier cut his own neck with a razor blade. Carlisle Crown Court heard Dale James Hoggarth’s mother, Grace Williamson, saw a major decline in his behaviour while they were living together earlier this year. This was due to his abuse of controlled drugs and alcohol. Hoggarth, 25, had become ‘increasingly confrontational and intimidating towards her’, causing damage to his bedroom walls. “On February 2 she told her son to leave,” said prosecutor Verity Quaite. “At that point, the defendant pulled a razor blade out of his bag and started to cut his neck in front of his mother, saying ‘I will make it easy for you to find me’.”
A CARLISLE man bounced his pal and lodger down stairs having pulled him out of bed while seeking to evict him. Sixty-year-old Nigel David Colvin allowed friend Alistair Bradshaw to stay with him for a short time as he saved up a deposit for his own property. Mr Bradshaw was described as being “dependant on alcohol”, the city’s crown court was told. On July 8 last year, the pair drank together at the address throughout the day. “The defendant decided to eject the complainant from the house because the complainant was drunk,” said prosecutor Claire Brocklebank. “The complainant was in bed. The defendant dragged him out bed, pulled him down the stairs and physically ejected him through the front door.
Sam Fleming accused his girlfriend – who lived in Bury – of cheating on him which she denied. At Manchester Minshull Street Court, Joshua Bowker, prosecuting, said the pair were friends since childhood, but then started a relationship in early summer 2019. Despite early positive signs, a short while into the relationship things turned unpleasant , Mr Bowker said. On a Saturday morning in August, the defendant accused her partner of cheating on him, which she denied. He called her an array of vulgar names , the court heard. The woman then left the property and went to her mother s home. The defendant then phoned her to say he had also left the address but continued to ring her multiple times .
