A US court has rejected Apple s request to throw out a potential class-action lawsuit accusing the iGiant of knowingly selling MacBook Pro laptops with defective display cables.
In an order [PDF] signed last week in San Jose, California, federal district judge Edward Davila essentially said he believed the case, brought by Mahan Taleshpour and others, has legs. A federal judge has ruled that Apple can be assumed to have been aware that it was selling faulty display cables in the 2016 redesign of its MacBook Pro laptops. The finding is a step forward for consumers suffering from “flexgate,” the nickname for the notoriously easy-to-break display cables in certain MacBooks.
9to5Mac reports that federal judge Edward Davila has decided to let a lawsuit referred to as “flexgate” go forward, ruling that Apple can be assumed to have been aware that it was selling extremely fragile display cable with its redesigned 2016 MacBook Pro laptops that often caused issues with the laptop screens. ....

Facepalm: The one thing you can say about Apple is that it sure keeps its legal team busy. When it s not fighting with Epic and others over its App Store tax or fending off antitrust regulators, it s busily engaged in defending itself against class-action lawsuits.
