McALLEN, Texas – An ex-police officer has been ordered to federal prison after sexually assaulting two men while in his custody, announced Acting U.S. Attorney Jennifer B. Lowery. A federal jury deliberated for approximately two hours before returning guilty verdicts March 10 against Matthew Lee Sepulveda on two violations of civil rights following a two-day trial, according to a press statement from the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Southern District of Texas. Today, U.S. District Judge Randy Crane ordered Sepulveda to serve a 360-month sentence to be immediately followed by five years of supervised release. In handing down the sentence, Judge Crane commented on the shame and embarrassment to law enforcement as a result of Sepulveda’s actions. The court further noted its disappointment in Sepulveda’s lack of empathy for the victims, the U.S. Attorney’s Office said. ....

The case was heard in Boone County after a change of venue from Audrain County. In July 2019, Stout was employed at a Mexico dog groomer, and during a grooming session with Petunia, a Yorkie dog, grabbed and slammed the dog on a grooming table multiple times. Petunia was injured but survived. Another co-defendant was present at the time and also harmed the animal. ....

Yesterday (Thursday) Northampton Crown Court heard the 35-year-old, of Carrington Street in Kettering, was a passenger in a white Seat which came to the police s attention at about 4am on August 22. Concerns had been raised that it may have been driven by a drink-driver and police attempted to speak to someone in the car in the town centre. But the driver then sped off, crashing in nearby Silver Street, with four men seen on CCTV fleeing from the scene. One of them, Toghill, was spotted putting something under the car which police later found was the black-handled firearm which wasn t loaded. ....
