Texas Senate Passes Bill Protecting Joe Biden’s Gun Control Plans AUSTIN, Texas (April 28, 2021) – Yesterday, the Texas Senate passed a bill that originally would have banned state and local enforcement of any new federal gun control, but amended it to essentially support all new gun control measures coming from the Biden administration. Sen. Bob Hall (R-Edgewood) introduced Senate Bill 513 (SB513) on Jan 28. This month, it garnered 6 additional cosponsors and the support of Gov. Greg Abbott. As introduced, the proposed law would prohibit any Texas governmental agency, including state and local police departments, from contracting with or in any other manner providing assistance to a federal agency or official with respect to the enforcement of a federal statute, order, rule, or regulation purporting to regulate a firearm, a firearm accessory, or firearm ammunition if the statute, order, rule, or regulation imposes a prohibition, restriction, or other regula ....

Greg Gianforte signed a bill into law banning enforcement of any new federal gun control. This represents a major step toward bringing such federal acts to an end within the state. Rep. Jedediah Hinkle (R-Belgrade) introduced House Bill 258 (HB258) on Jan. 27. The new law prohibits police officers, state employees, and employees of any political subdivision of the state from enforcing, assisting in the enforcement of, or otherwise cooperating in the enforcement of any new “federal ban” on firearms, magazines, or ammunition. ....

(April 22, 2021) – On Monday, the North Dakota House and Senate gave final approval to a bill that would create a mechanism to review certain presidential executive orders and end state cooperation with enforcement of those orders determined to violate rights under the U.S. Constitution. This process would set the stage to nullify some executive orders in effect in North Dakota. A coalition of nine Republicans introduced House Bill 1164 (HB1164) on Jan. 8. The legislation would revise N.D. Cent. Code § 54-03-32 and require the state attorney general to review any presidential executive order not affirmed by a Congressional vote on the recommendation of the Legislative Management.
