Congress leader terms situation ‘inhuman and criminal’
Congress general secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra on Thursday said the situation in Uttar Pradesh is ‘inhuman and criminal’ and demanded a judicial probe headed by a High Court judge into the several instances of bodies found floating in the Ganga in many parts of the State.
“What is happening in U.P. is inhuman and criminal. The government is busy image building while people are suffering unimaginably. There must be an immediate judicial enquiry headed by a High Court judge into these events,” tweeted Ms. Vadra, who is the Congress general secretary in-charge of U.P. ....

Two days after the death of 11 COVID patients at the SVR Ruia Government Hospital owing to the reported disruption in oxygen supply, the opposition parties have accused the authorities of not releasing the actual number of fatalities.
BJP leaders submitted a representation to the government through Chittoor Collector, demanding a judicial probe into the tragedy, apart from a compensation of ₹25 lakh to the kin of the deceased. In the memorandum submitted to Revenue Divisional Officer Kanaka Narasa Reddy on Wednesday, they alleged that the authorities had fudged the death figures and pegged it at eleven, though it was ‘higher’. ....

Taking note of the death of 23 COVID-19 patients at the Chamarajanagar district hospital and of one patient at a private hospital, allegedly due to shortage in supply of oxygen, the High Court of Karnataka on Tuesday indicated to the State government that it was in favour of ordering a judicial probe into the incident.
The court directed the government to submit the SOP/guidelines being followed to allocate oxygen to hospitals in various cities and districts.
A Special Division Bench comprising Chief Justice Abhay Shreeniwas Oka and Justice Aravind Kumar passed the order while hearing a batch of PIL petitions on issues related to COVID-19. ....

The Opposition Congress has demanded a judicial probe into the death of 23 COVID-19 patients at the district hospital in Chamarajanagar, allegedly owing to shortage of oxygen.
Speaking to reporters after a virtual meeting of the Congress Legislature Party, Leader of the Opposition Siddaramaiah demanded the probe by a committee headed by a district court judge. The probe by IAS officer and KSRTC Managing Director Shivayogi Kalasad would not bring out real facts and provide justice to families who had lost their members, he said.
Besides resignation of Chief Minister B.S. Yediyurappa, Health and Family Welfare Minister K. Sudhakar and district in-charge Minister S. Suresh Kumar for the tragedy, the Congress leader demanded compensation of ₹25 lakh to the families for the loss of lives. The officials who were responsible for the deaths should be suspended, he demanded. ....
