The reservations expressed by the Sindh High Court Bar Association and, later, by the Supreme Court Bar Association about the intended elevation of a ‘relatively junior’ judge of the Sindh High Court to the Supreme Court of Pakistan have reminded us of the large credibility gaps that continue to afflict public life in Pakistan. Questions have been asked about the choice of the particular judge while other senior judges and the chief justice of the Sindh High Court continue to be by-passed for elevation, year after year.

The Asia Pacific Disaster Research Group (NDRG) organized an international Biodiversity Day lecture on the 22nd May. It was overwhelmingly attended by academia, policy and legal experts from several South and East Asian countries. Everyone was looking forward to hearing how biodiversity issues could unite and re-ignite bonding between India and its neighbours led by two eminent judges, Justice Gita Mittal (Recently retired as Chief Justice of J&K High Court) as the theme speaker and Justice Nasir Aslam Zahid (Former Judge Pakistan Supreme Court & Chief Justice Sindh High Court) as the Chair for the programme. COVID-19 only out to create fear, panic
Governor Yahaya Bello of Kogi State, in a report on June 30, 2020, alleged that COVID-19 is an artificial creation aimed at causing fear and panic among people. 
Bello made this statement as he spoke at the third-day prayers for the state Chief Judge, Justice Nasir Ajana. The governor further claimed that the chief judge did not die of coronavirus. 
He advised citizens “not to give in to fear and evil of the issues of COVID-19”, adding that “it is a disease that has been imported, propagated and forced on the people for no just cause”. ....

COVID-19 Won't Hinder Developmental Stride in Kogi, Says Bello

Kogi State Governor, Yahaya Bello has assured citizens that the ongoing developmental strides across the state will be sustained by his administration notwithstanding the much talked about second wave of COVID-19.
Bello disclosed this yesterday in his New Year broadcast to people of the state, maintained that his administration has never and will never allow COVID-19 to be the “soul definer” of affairs in the state.
“As before, we remain determined as a Government not to respond to the highly controversial second wave with mass hysteria. While reiterating that our primary objective is keeping Kogi State coronavirus-free as it is at today, we will continue to respond to developments with reason informed by knowledge. ....
