The provincial government’s inquiry into alleged foreign-funded campaigns targeting Alberta’s energy sector is driven by “purely partisan politics” and aimed at those who hold differing views than the UCP, environmental law firm Ecojustice argued Thursday before the Court of Queen’s Bench.
Ecojustice sued the government in November 2019, challenging the legality of the inquiry launched by the UCP government in July of that year shortly after it was elected. The government tasked Steve Allan with leading the inquiry as its commissioner.
