Austin 360 It s been a while since a big touring music act came to town, but Austin just had a surprise pop star pop-in. Chemtrails over the Country Club singer Lana Del Rey has been spotted performing around the area over the past few days. We recently learned that Del Rey has been collaborating with country singer Nikki Lane. On Friday, Lane and recent Austin transplant Jade Bird shared a bill at Gruene Hall in New Braunfels. At one point during Lane’s set, she mentioned that her pandemic time had been brightened by “being able to hang out with Lana and write.” While touring together before the pandemic, the two co-wrote a song called “Breaking Up Slowly” that’s featured on Del Rey’s new album. ....

Austin 360 English singer-songwriter Jade Bird and a cast of local musicians including David Ramirez, Erika Wennerstrom and Kalu & the Electric Joint are booked for Sun Radio Pop-Up Sessions, a series of limited-audience live music performances March 15-20 at a variety of locations around Austin. Ticket prices range from a low of $100 for a two-person table for Zach Person s March 17 show at Blended Culture, to a high of $400 for a four-person table for Jade Bird and Erin Ivey s March 19 show at Z Tejas Arboretum. Common to several shows is a $200 four-person table. No individual tickets will be sold. A Sun Radio representative confirmed on Wednesday that mask-wearing and social distancing will be enforced at the shows. ....

The Texas Opera Alliance was formed in 2020 by opera troupes in Austin, Houston, Dallas, San Antonio and Fort Worth to promote, transform and diversify the art form in the state. What better way than to sponsor an established star for a residency? Green, a bass-baritone who has sung on global stages, will spend the last two weeks of March in Texas involved in various initiatives, leading up to the filming of the postponed An All-Star Concert, which will air on public television on an unspecified date in April. ....
