Ontario vowed to investigate horrific deaths in long-term care. Now it says that didn't happen.

The day before Cathy Parkes s father died, she went to see him through the window of his Pickering, Ont., long-term care home.
Paul Parkes, 86, had been suffering from a urinary tract infection and wasn t getting enough water.
A personal support worker said he wouldn t take fluids. Cathy asked if her father could be sent to hospital. She says the home refused.
I saw what he looked like in his casket when we had the viewing and he was a completely different man than what I had seen just weeks before, she told CBC News. ....

Ontario LTC Minister Fullerton in isolation after brief exposure to accountability

TORONTO – Ontario’s Minister of Long Term Care Merrilee Fullerton was rushed out of a media scrum after being briefly exposed to accountability yesterday.
The minister will spend the next 14 days in isolation from any scrutiny.
Fullerton was allegedly in close proximity to a 322-page report that detailed her ministry’s failures to protect some of the most vulnerable people under care in Ontario despite having clear warnings several months in advance.
The Minister promptly donned a mask after being exposed to questions about the auditor general’s report, the kind of PPE which was in short supply in care homes during the second wave. ....
