A release from the Long Beach Police Department said that the man was standing in the roadway near 5th Street and Pine Avenue around 7 a.m. Sunday when he was struck by a Ford F-250.
“Just to see all my dad’s friends, some of my family, my friends that knew my dad,” Jimmy said of the point of the event. “Some of my friends didn’t have their fathers in their lives and they looked up to him. They called him 'Big Jay.’”
